McConnell Arts Center of Worthington (OH) (Pronunciations: Earle=Earl; MojoFlo= Moe-joe-FLOW; Barrie=Barry; Knicole=Ni-COAL, Kolhoff=COAL-hoff; Gnezda=NEZZ-duh). EMILY EARLE - Emily Earle, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, comes by her talent honestly, as she's the niece of Steve Earle. Her songs are a mix of heartfelt lyrics and contagious melodies - falling somewhere between early Miranda Lambert, classic Sheryl Crow, and unmistakable Linda Ronstadt. Influenced by the distinctive places she grew up, Emily combines Texas grit with Colorado cool. Emily's new music gives fans the honesty they've grown to love as well as a fresh edge. Emily co-wrote all six songs on her new EP and had Ashley Monroe, Angaleena Presley, Sarah Buxton, Steve Earle and Audley Freed lend their talents on the album. Emily is currently focused on promoting her new music, set to be released this spring. Her song "News From Colorado," written with Steve Earle and Allison Moorer, is on the new Steve Earle album. MOJOFLO (AMBER KNICOLE, GEORGE BARRIE & WALTER KOLHOFF) - Amber Knicole, George Barrie & Walter Cavanaugh Kolhoff, of the Neo funk group MojoFlo, are known for their captivating stage performance as their infectious rhythms and catchy lyrics. They were named "Best Band" (2016) by both Columbus (OH) Monthly and (614) Magazine for their dynamic live shows featuring Amber's vivacious vocals. MojoFlo has shared the stage with Rebirth Brass Band, Trombone Shorty, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Joan Jett, KC and the Sunshine Band and the Dynamites featuring Charlie Walker. ALFA - A Warner Music Philippines artist, Alfa was born in the Philippine countryside and raised on the East Coast as a classical musician, approaches her pop songs from a unique source, blending dynamic melodies with a sweet but textured voice and an array of instruments - guitar, ukulele, violin, piano, and the occasional kazoo. She draws lyrics from her life's rotating themes, from love to restlessness, to settling down, to self-reliance. Music Connection has called her "an artist who has a spectrum of colors in her palette, a songwriter with a knack for tickling a mainstream ear." Some notable venues played include the NAMM Main Stage, LA's Troubadour, Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in NYC, and The Bluebird in Nashville. ABOUT THE VENUE - Transformed from a retired high school built in 1915 into a thoroughly modern arts center and performance space, The Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center of Worthington is the home theater of Songs at the Center.
