Student Testimonials
Our students love their time at KAMU. But don’t take our word for it. Hear firsthand how KAMU shaped the futures of some of our recent graduates.
What Working at KAMU is All About
Students play a key role in everything we do at KAMU. We’re passionate about immersing students in the media world, teaching everything from the right way to set up lights to which cliche phrases to avoid when writing social media posts.
Working with us is more than grunt work. Yes, there’s some of that, but our student supervisors love providing enriching opportunities to do more. If you want to learn it, we’ll help you get there, and if you want to create your own content, we’ll set you up for success. Every student gains invaluable experience toward a future media career.
Bottom line: we couldn’t do what we do without students. The fingerprints of their work live in every local TV program, radio and podcast episode, social media post, YouTube video, and website article we create.
Production Services
Our production assistants, or PAs, can do it all. They edit promos and other videos for PBS shows. They operate cameras for our livestreams of Midnight Yell, Commencement and Aggie Muster. They build sets in our TV studio, run cables and set up lights. Plus, they edit most of the videos you see on our social media pages – including some of their own concepts.
Content Production
These students tell stories in many ways. A big part of their role is writing – including writing many of the articles in our news section and every monthly email newsletter we send out. They also tell audio stories through the “KAMU Student Perspectives” podcast. Plus, they create graphics, write interview questions and scripts, and help make sure our filming shoots run on schedule.
Marketing
Perfect for those who keep up with trends and the latest memes, our marketing students handle all things social media and community outreach. They create graphics for every social media post and write the majority of posts themselves. And their smiling faces are excited to greet you at every First Friday and other community events we attend.
Administration and Operations
We occasionally hire students for our operations team. These students greet guests, answer phones, record donations, organize paperwork, log our local programs in online databases and make sure our office runs smoothly.
100% Student-Produced Content
Our students work on every project we do, but several projects are 100% student-led. From start to finish, from the idea to publishing, our students work hard to make their content stand out.
Where Are Our Students Now?
We are so proud of all of our student workers. For more than 50 years, our former students have gone on to do amazing things! Here’s where just a few of our recent graduates are now.

Victoria turned her degree and KAMU experience straight into a job at iHeart Radio, where she works on “The Jubal Show” in Seattle. She’s interviewed top-notch celebrities.

She wanted to move to the East Coast and she did. Maria works at CNN in Washington, D.C. as a News Associate, part of an editorial training program.

Internship Opportunities
Texas A&M journalism students must complete an internship to graduate. KAMU has helped many students meet this requirement.
We offer unpaid internships during any semester, including summer. Interns are expected to create their own content or assist our full-time team as they create content. Interns are assigned an experienced staff member to mentor and guide them through their experience. We cannot promise on-camera opportunities as our internships are mostly behind the scenes.
Internship opportunities are on a case-by-case basis and are not posted to Jobs for Aggies. If you’re interested in an internship, please email kamu@tamu.edu.
