Daily Programming Slots
Morning Drive
Weekdays start with NPR’s “Morning Edition” (6-9 a.m.), “1A” (9-10 a.m.) and “Texas Standard” (10-11 a.m.). The most listened-to news radio program, “Morning Edition” has been around for more than three decades and covers multi-faceted stories and commentaries. “1A” guides listeners past the headlines to get to the heart of stories. And “Texas Standard” provides our audience with the regional news that matters the most.
Middays
Highlights within our midday schedule include “Here & Now” (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) and “Think” (1-2 p.m.). “Here & Now” reflects the fluid world of news as it’s happening in the middle of the day. In each episode of “Think,” listeners tweet, call or email questions and comments for the show’s current guest. Previous guests include Melinda Gates, Malcolm Gladwell, Jane Goodall and many more.
Afternoon Drive
The drive home features some of the most listened-to news programs in America: “All Things Considered” (3-5:30 p.m.), “The Daily” (5:30-6 p.m.) and “Fresh Air” (6-7 p.m.). “All Things Considered” shares stories and features on the quirky and mainstream media in all areas of life and entertainment. “The Daily” focuses on one big topic a day for 30 minutes. And “Fresh Air” continues to bring people in with probing questions, revelatory interviews and unusual insights.
Music
Evenings on KAMU-FM are made for music, with a variety to suit most any taste. Some nights it’s jazz and classical; on others it’s international music. Check out our weekly schedule to learn more. Every evening ends with stellar reporting from the BBC World Service, beginning at 11 p.m. and continuing through the overnight hours.
Weekends
Popular radio podcasts and local programming highlight our new weekend schedule. “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!” airs in its traditional timeslot of 10 a.m. on Saturdays, joined later in the day by “This American Life” (noon) and “The Moth Radio Hour” (1 p.m.) and on Sundays by “Latino USA” (10 a.m.) and “Planet Money/How I Built This” (11 a.m.). Local programming options include “The Heart of Art” on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and “Easy Sounds of the ‘50s and ‘60s” on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at noon.
KAMU-Classical
Classical music continues to be a priority for our audience. We’ve responded by introducing KAMU-Classical/HD-2. Available 24/7, the new channel includes listener favorites like “Performance Today,” “Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin,” “Classical 24” and “Pipedreams.”
